DOES THE SHAPE OF MY CAKE AFFECT HOW MANY PEOPLE IT SERVES?

Yes. For example a 10" Round cake serves approx 28 - 38 whereas a 10" Square cake serves approx 30 - 50. Please see serving chart here.

HOW LONG WILL MY CAKE LAST?

It depends on the type of cake, but from baking to eating most cake lasts approximately 5 days, Madiera cakes 14 days.  It's important to store your cake well.
We recommend to consume with in 2-3 days.

WHATS THE BEST WAY TO STORE MY CAKES/ CUPCAKES?

Where the cake is exposed from icing/frosting it can go dry.  Wrapping them in cling film can help to retain moisture in cake and help prevent your cake from drying out. Ensure your cake is well covered to prevent this from happening.

Refrigerate Cakes if they are going to be left out for more than 24 hours.  We recommend taking cake out 2 hours prior to consumption.

If your cake has cream/cream cheese frosting, do not keep at room temperature, refrigerate for no more than 1-2 days and then allow cake to come up to room temperature before consumption.

Cupcakes should be stored at room temperature in an airtight container to prevent them drying out and going stale. Do not refrigerate cupcakes as this also can dry them out.

CAN I FREEZE MY CAKE?

Yes!  Wrap well in cling film, and place in an airtight plastic container/ resealable bag to prevent it from absorbing flavours from the freezer.

You can freeze your cake for up to 4 months, however we recommend 2 months as flavour and texture can change after 2 months.

ABOUT...

My name is Alexia Khadime the founder of TLC CAKES.  From a young age I would bake with my Mum, from cookies to tarts to cakes, so it's no wonder that baking became a big Hobby of mine.

All my birthday cakes were baked by mum and they were awesome.  From Castles to Ballerinas, I had every little girls dream birthday cakes.

Mum and I bake a lot and love creating cakes that don't just look good but taste good too.  We bake a lot for friends and family and love that they leave the ideas to us.  All we're given is the occasion, the colour theme, the size, the flavour and the rest is left in our hands.

TLC Cakes bring the joy back into baking and are made with Tender Loving Care.
